Throughout the semester we will be talking about the importance of overall wellness, time management, and aligning our habits with our goals. The next step is putting some action behind the conversations we are having. It is easy to say we want to make a change, but the harder part is actually doing so. That's where this assignment comes in. I want you to choose one goal that you want to achieve in the next 32 days. I picked 32 days because our book features the 32 Day Commitment Tracker that we will be using to track our progress. Research shows that forming a new habit can range in how long it can take, so don't be discouraged if you don't fully meet your goal by the end of this assignment. The key is to keep working towards it. My hope is that by doing this you will see the process of making changes aren't as overwhelming as it seems and that you will be able to make more changes moving forward to help you align with all of your goals.
Step 1:
This assignment started with the time tracker you completed already.
Step 2:
We will be completing a Wellness Wheel activity in class and answer some reflection questions based on the activity. After you have completed the activity, you can pick 1 of the 8 areas of wellness that you want to focus on. Sometimes the Wellness Wheel language can feel limiting, so I encourage you to think bigger than just the prompts on the sheet. For example: What is one thing in your week that you can change that can help you get better sleep, move your body more, make more time for homework or friends, create a habit that you have been wanting to create. You can get as creative as you want, but my requirement is that it is a SMART goal, which means it is achievable. Think small, you can always build it up later if you want.
Step 3:
Once you have the goal, you will make a promise to yourself on your 32 day commitment tracker and then track it for 32 days.
Step 4:
Once the 32 days is up, you will take a picture of your paper tracker and upload it to ASULearn and also bring it to class with you.
You also will do a brief reflection on the experience and submit it to ASULearn.
For the reflection, write a full page (MLA,double spaced) reflection or create a minute long reflection video. Do not just answer these questions, write it in paragraph form or talk about in depth sharing these details.
