Dual Language Spanish Immersion

Roseville Area Schools has invested in Dual Language Spanish Immersion(DLSI) education for over 10 years to support the native language development of our Latinx students and those students interested in learning Spanish. At RAHS, DLSI students continue learning in Spanish one period a day. These DLSI courses follow the MN State Standards for Language Arts by grade level but are taught exclusively in Spanish.

The Minnesota Department of Education provides the opportunity for bilingual and multilingual students to earn college credits by way of a Minnesota Multilingual Seal Program Test. This recognition of your language proficiency can be included on your transcript when you graduate. This seal also provides the student up to 4 semesters of college credit for Minnesota Colleges and Universities.

DLSI students may choose to take AP Spanish Language and Culture after 9th grade to prepare to take the AP Spanish test and earn AP credit for college.

Students in the DLSI program are required to take at least one course in 9th and 10th grade, DLSI Language and Culture or the credit-earning Social Studies courses.
