What is Progressive Discipline?

Bias free progressive discipline is a non-punitive, whole-school approach that uses a continuum of preventative measures, corrective and supportive interventions and responses to address inappropriate behaviour and to build upon strategies that promote positive behaviours.  Responses include learning opportunities for reinforcing positive behaviour and assisting students to make good choices thus supporting the student’s and school community’s well-being.

We take violations of our Code of Conduct seriously. Reported incidents are investigated, and appropriate interventions and responses are determined after considering the circumstances of the incident and any relevant mitigating factors. Responses may range from education and restorative or supportive interventions to loss of privileges or even suspension and expulsion. Violent incidents will be reported to the School Board and, depending on the nature and circumstances of the incident, may also be reported to police. Throughout the process, we value transparent and respectful communication as we work with students and families to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment.

Students on Suspension or Expulsion

Students on suspension or expulsion are not permitted to enter onto school property or participate in any school activities.  Suspension or Expulsion from school includes suspension from the bus, and from all school events both on or off of school property.
