Bill Watterson

Bill Watterson is an American cartoonist who created the comic stip Calvin and Hobbes. I really enjoy reading this comic strip, and take a lot of inspiration from the art style.

Ari Gibson

Ari Gibson is a member of Australian game development studio Team Cherry. They created my favorite video game, Hollow Knight. It has a really epic art style, and Ari was the one who made it all. All the backgrounds he painted himself, and the characters he computer animated.

PERSONAL CULTURE DIORAMA

We made a diorama about our personal culture, and I wanted to do something different. So, I went to a used electronic store called the Reuseum, and got an old Sony boombox tape deck. I gutted it, and built my diorama inside.

Partway through the creation of our pieces, we did a peer critique where we wrote something good and something constructive on a paper under someone's diorama.

GROTESQUE BUT BEAUTIFUL - SCULPTURE PROJECT

The beginning..

This is the start of a very stressful but very fun project, and it came from a slab. I cut the outline of both of the jaws from a big slab, and the jaw rims.

Glaze!

Once the construction had finished, it was fired in the kiln. Then I coated it in four coats of glaze, and some details. (Jason photobombed)

FIRE AHAH

Once the glaze was on, into the kiln it went again, for more cooking. (Mine is not in this photo, but imagine it is)

The finished product! I'm very happy with how it came out, its a little wonky (seen better on bottom picture) because the bottom jaw warped during the second firing. That's alright, it gives it character!
