The purpose of the drawing project was to make an image look three-dimensional, using scale, shading, and value. This was hands-down the most difficult art project I've done. Ever.Â
I struggled a lot, including tears, and many times when I wanted nothing more than to rip the paper in half. But I persevered. In fact, I didn't originally want to do a snake. I was going to do a dog midair catching a Frisbee, but as soon as I started sketching, I lost interest, and didn't feel motivated anymore. So I did a snake instead. It was mostly the scales that were hard for me. So many scales, each with a different shading and shape. But I did it, and when I finally finished and handed it in, I was so glad to be done.
This is the reference image that I used to make my drawing. Although it doesn't look exactly the same, I got extremely close, and I still think it gives the illusion of 3-d.
