Omnivore’s Dilemma
The goals of this project were group work, collaboration, public speaking, synthesis of information into a presentation, critical thinking, and drawing thoughtful conclusions.
Guiding Questions:
What’s the story of my food?
What is the Omnivore’s Dilemma?
What journey does food take before it gets to your plate?
Our class did a research project on the omnivore's dilemma. My group read the first section of the book, about Industrial food. We then compiled all the info in the section into a presentation.
Reflection Questions:
What did you learn about the four food chains: Industrial, Industrial Organic, Local Sustainable and Hunter, Gatherer, Gardener? I learned that food in america is divided into two clear sections. you either know where your food comes from, or you dont.
What is the “Omnivore’s Dilemma?” There are two variations to the omnivore's dilemma. the old version of it is that as omnivores, we don't have a natural sense of what's good for us to eat, and what's not. The modern version is that we simply don't know where our food comes from, or what's in it. (CORN.)
What did you like about this case study? I enjoyed the book a lot, and Michael Pollan's view on the American food system.
