The purpose of the yo-yo project was to learn to create a wood toy so that you can make a website documenting to process.
I cut a hole in some innocent wood with a very finicky hole saw. then i cut out a dowel and glued it to the disc. i still need to cut the other side and sand it.
I finished my yoyo! It's fully glued and stringed, and is ready to yo! (Is that what a yoyo does? I don't know.)
I painted the first half of my yo-yo red, and made a straight line with painter's tape.
then i painted the other half yellow.
I painted the other side and edges, green and blue.
Describe your final results: It came out really good, being honest, it doesn't work that well, but it looks good and i am proud of my work.
What do you know now that you didn't know when you started this project: I know how to use a power drill, and a hole saw. I also know how to string a yo-yo.
What advice would you give to future students about this project: always keep the drill straight when cutting, and don't go too fast, the gravity will do it for you. also, when putting it in the sun to dry the paint, put it decently far away from the shade, because it moves pretty quick.
What else would you like to try that you didn't have time for: A fancier paint job, I really wanted to make it look like a Pokeball. I also wanted to sand the edges some more, but i ran out of time and had to paint it so now they are kind of rough.
What proof do you have that shows you learned the project's purpose: I have documented my progress in a digital portfolio, and made a (Mostly) working yo-yo.
