¡Última semana!

¡Felicidades por haber terminado la escuela secundaria! I hope most of you have taken the time to visit this humble Spanish page and read my messages. If you are reading this now, then, it means you know BOOKS ARE DUE, no excuses, finish product only. I wish we could have had the chance to do this for real, in class, sharing them between all of us and then with the little kids. They do love to listen to you reading!

Please come to zoom on Wednesday to catch up and finalize details. Also, because I need to take a screenshot with all of you for a montage I need to make. Ideally, you all will be saying something in Spanish, so.... any ideas?

Semana del 11 de mayo:

• Remember to work on Actividad 18 from page 106 and Actividad 21 from page 108. Here's the video about más que/menos que.
• Do please check my comments on your legacy books. It is vital that you pay attention to them because at this stage --as publishers-- you have to be editing and checking content and making sure it is all good and it makes sense and it looks professional. All work is to be submitted on Showbie.
• Recuerden también que tienen que hacer al menos UNA actividad el tablero de opciones CADA semana.
• Check showbie for a new activity about "la primavera"

Semana de abril 27:

• Work on Actividades 13 y 14 on page 104 and read Actividad 15 on the following page. This all ties up with your book project, by the way. In designing, drawing, illustrating, the choice of colors is important.
• Think of what the flag to some imaginary country you create might look like.
• Submit drafts for your book. These might include: written pages, illustrations, a map of the overall contents of the book.

• Work continues on the legacy book. You should be ready to share some pages or sketches of your work, the general idea and how will you design it (number of sections/pages, size of text, use of graphics)
• Read pages 102-104 of Realidades and study the vocabulary
• Check the videos on the Rincón de cosas divertidas (above)

¡Hola a todos! Here's the sign I made in honor of all of you, your hard work and your accomplishments this year. I brought it to the parade of May 7th and it ended at Sam's :-). Muy bien chiques (chicos y chicas), here's a song and a challenge for you. I know you can go and search online for the lyrics, and that's ok, but try to first listen to the whole song and take notes of what words can you identify. Maybe listen a couple of times. Then look for the lyrics and do not translate yet. Read, check for cognates and a few sentences you understand. Send me a note with what you think the song is about.

Lunes 30 de marzo

Hey there!! I've missed you guys!. I will try and make a video for you telling you about my vacaciones de primavera (yeah, right) soon, but in the meantime, remember to check here daily and to check Teams daily too. Everyone should be able to get there via Microsoft office. Bare with me because I'm only starting to learn how to use the Notebook and stuff (Mr Merisch has been kind enough to help me through that), but meanwhile, please do your flipgrid (if you haven't done so) and be ready to continue developing your legacy books (yes, we are still doing them, only, this time they will be individual books).

We will continue working with the book, learning placement of things and how to describe where things are. We will make maps and many other things. Also, for everyone, that link on the post below has a bunch of very useful videos for learning Spanish. Test yourselves! Did you know there are three happy words in Spanish? Oh, sí. Anyway, cuídense (take care), lávense muy bien las manos (wash hands thoroughly) y ¡nos vemos pronto!

Monday Feb 17-Tuesday Feb 18 : keep working on script, include enough lines for each person, edit and proofread, make sure I read final version and make corrections, memorize and practice.

Wednesday Feb 19-Thursday Feb 20 : Present in class. Comments and critique to follow each presentation. Complete participation in a respectful way is expected.

Try your best. This project will be graded on: appropriate use of Spanish (according to level, ability, learned vocabulary), topics covered (see post below), correct pronunciation (speak loud and clear, please) and yes, creativity! (and by that I mean everyone put something of themselves in it).

Proyecto sobre influencia y cultura latina en Estados Unidos:

• You need to talk about the country you're working on, where is it, when did they started to migrate to the United States and what were the causes.
• In the communities they established themselves (and tell where in the U.S. mostly they moved to), what has been their influence?
• What do you know about their culture? do you know their music, food, dress? Have you visited a business (restaurant or other) in Chicago?
• Have you met someone from that country? Interview them.
• Name a couple of famous people from that country (or whose ancestors are from that country)
