We began our new unit today on solving systems of equations. Students learned today that a system solution is where the linear equations would cross on a graph. Today we practiced the first method on the graphing method. After copying some examples into our notebooks, we practiced further on NearPod.

Today we discussed function notation and how to evaluate a function given specific inputs and outputs. We realized that f(x) is the same as saying output or y. Students practiced evaluating functions from equations but also from graphs.

Today we began looking at our y = mx+b from the last unit and applied it to what we have learned in this unit. Students used tables to identify linear relationships and then write equations in slope intercept form for them.

Students shared their notes on the identifying functions from equations, tables, coordinate points, and maps. We discussed what a relation is and what a function is, and then practiced further on NearPod. Students then continued creating tables for functions on p 359 #4-5 in the book.

After our quiz on slope, students shared their notes on slope intercept form from last night. We discussed the meaning of each of the variables in y = mx+b. Then we learned how to write equations in slope intercept form based on the info provide - from a graph or from just a slope and a point. We wrote a few example problems in our notebooks and then practiced further together on white boards.
