Hey guys!
I'll be on zoom today if you want to stop by to say goodbye or just to chat.
¡Nos vemos!
¡Ültima semana (y días)!
Last week (and days)!
Few things: submit all (new and past) work on Showbie, or send me via email. Be prepared to share your menus on our last meet THIS Wednesday, June 3rd, este miércoles 3 de junio. June 10th is our last class but we don´t have to meet; I will be available after the 3rd just for late assignments or to answer any questions you may have, or just to have a chat :-)
Quick note!
I don't know if this applies to you but: Remember you must return your Realidades books to school, be that when the new year starts or before (I don't know if you kids are scheduled to return to the building any time before the break, but since the 8th graders are, I thought I'd ask you as well)
FLASH for the week of 5/25
Everyone should submit a recording of you doing the Guacamole song (reading or singing, doesn't matter). Listen to it FIRST a couple of times to get a good grasp of the pronunciation.
Homework on the book should be completed, too, as well as an item from the choice board. See below for the new (and last) project.
(By the way, check showbie PLEASE, I review your work and then return it with comments when it's incomplete; that means you HAVE to resubmit.
Menu project
Create a menu of all the good things you can learn en la clase de español, and present it in a visually attractive way.
You can name your "restaurant" anything related to the learning of Spanish, then you can create categories such as entremeses (appetizers) , plato principal (main dish), and postre (dessert).
Come up with as many items you can think based on what we learned the past few months (verbs in the infinitive, conjugation of all verbs [er, ar, ir], school room items, food, cooking recipes, animals, etc etc.
My zoom rules: show your face, mute your mic, be present.

Please check Showbie everyday; I revise your work and give you feedback that you NEED to check, since that means sometimes you have to redo some of your work.
For weekly activities, you have choices in this tablero de opciones. There are new ones, so check again.

Hey, wanna go back in time, back when you were very little? well, here's this tv show for the alternate reality YOU, in a universe where you spoke Spanish. Watch and learn!
Also, here's maestra Andrea leyendo Willy el tímido and El libro de los cerdos , by Anthony Browne.
Semana de abril 20:
Semana de abril 13.
Hola y buen lunes a todos. This week I want you to make a list en español, of the food in your house. What is there en el refrigerador? What type of frutas are there? What type of vegetales?
Use this model: en mi cocina hay......., en mi refrigerador hay......
Also, tell me what your favorite home cooked meal is.

Week of April 6
¡Hola a todos y buenos días!
We are going to be using Showbie from now on for turning in work, BUT keep checking on Teams daily for conversations or past assignments. Speaking of which, even if you sent me work via email, you should still mark it as turned in on the assignment.
Keep working on your book! Read the grammar part on page 160 and start working on actividad 16. Use the class discussion on Showbie if you have questions, or send me an email.
Receta de guacamole
The assignment is on Teams. Listen to the song and follow the lyrics.
Our weekly meetings now will take place as:
Zoom in at your time for check in, questions for me or other matters. Unless otherwise noted here, we will not meet for regular class but I will meet with smaller groups later on.

Jueves dos de abril, 2020
Hola chiques (chicos y chicas). De tarea deben leer (read the whole page) la página 159 de su libro y hacer la Actividad 15.
Also, I want you to read and listen to this story. Do it a couple of times and then write down words or phrases you recognize, as well as cognates. What is the story about?
As usual, check Teams. I'll add the story as an assignment.
Semana del 30 de marzo al 4 de abril.
Our Wednesday class is 12:00 to 1:00. I'll be sending a zoom link via email, or post it here.
Check Teams for newest assignment.
¡Hola a todos!
Lunes 30 de marzo,
Hey you guys, how is everybody?? I've missed you! I am getting ready to meet with you los miércoles and to chat and see how everyone's doing, AND to work with ¡español, por supuesto!. We will move forward with our unit on La comida, we will watch videos and eventually we will make menus for your own restaurants! In the meantime, please check here everyday as well as our Teams group. I will post assignments and work there.
If you want to have a headstart, read page 156 Exploración del lenguaje, where we learn to use a noun to modify a noun. That is actually very fun to do! It's just like saying chicken soup or paper plane or booger sandwich but in Spanish! Can't wait to see what you come up with. Anyway...
Cuídense (take care), lávense muy bien las manos (wash your hands thoroughly) ¡y nos vemos pronto!
Miss maestra Andrea? Here she is!
Viernes 20 de marzo,
Here's a youtube channel to check basic Spanish while you're bored at home :-)
el correo electrónico de la maestra Andrea:
¡Buenos días!
We will be working sharing a document back and forth with your work and activities. Create one now and don´t forget to ALLOW EDIT. ¡Gracias!
Go to page 155 of your book and do Actividad 9: make three columns and write how often you drink those items: Todos los días, A veces, Nunca. Then write your own sentences following the model.
For the poster, no matter who you´ll be working with, you need to start thinking of how can you encapsulate thoughts (the words we came up with during class) into graphics, how can you present these ideas in a way that's attractive and eye-catching, and how can you show in images a concept (such as kindness, etc).
Below are the words that each class came up with. Pick a few to work on as a draft on paper (we don't want everyone to be working on the same word). Approach it this way: what do I see when I think of whatever word? That image in your head is the seed from where your poster will grow.
¡Nos vemos el viernes!
to help you out:
SUBJECT PRONOUNS
PRONOMBRES PERSONALES
YO I
TÚ YOU (singular)
ÉL/ELLA HE/SHE
USTED YOU (formal)
NOSOTROS WE
VOSOTROS YOU (plural, only in Spain)
ELLOS/ELLAS THEY (masc/fem)
USTEDES YOU (plural, as in “you all, you guys”)
And to make it easier, here's a video on SUBJECT PRONOUNS (or PRONOMBRES PERSONALES en español).
Hoy es 9 de octubre.
Friday's test will include the following:
All of these themes are either on your flash cards, your notebook or your book..
(By the way, here's the video for the Spanish speaking countries.)
(and here's a cool song to learn SER/ESTAR )
(and here's one to learn to tell time )
Hoy es 30 (treinta) de septiembre,
In order to familiarize with the verbs in Spanish for TO BE, watch this video: Ser y Estar
Then use them in a sentence, por ejemplo:
Tomás es de Estados Unidos, pero ahora está en Costa Rica estudiando español.
Hoy es 13 de septiembre.
Escribe lo que comes en el desayuno y en el almuerzo, por ejemplo:
Para el desayuno me gusta comer/beber........... y para el almuerzo prefiero comer/beber..........
me gusta/I like prefiero/I prefer
BE CREATIVE, look for different foods and drinks.
9 de septiembre del 2019
Use the advertisement on page 148 of your book to tell me what do lo like to eat for breakfast. You have $8.00 to spend on food for your breakfast, so buy as much as you can without going over.
Your text should read: Para el desayuno voy a comprar.... (for breakfast I'm going to buy....) and then list the items (en español) and their price.

¡Hola! Aquí está el enlace del video para hacer PAN DE MUERTO en español y esta otra EN INGLÉS.
But remember that you can always check different videos. There are many more!
Try and bring something for Monday or Wednesday at the latest. But do not panic if you couldn't arrange to have your team get together to bake. The important thing is that you learn some new vocabulary about food and the process of creating a dish, AND that you learn more about a tradition from a different country.
¡FELIZ DÍA DE MUERTOS!
