Welcome to 7th Grade PE and Health! We will have PE classes on Mondays and Health classes on Fridays during T1 and some of T2. Afterwards, we will have PE 2x a week on Mondays and Fridays!

Need to complete 1 of the physical challenges from the morning announcements. These are 1 minute challenges

Office Tennis (Tuesday), Defying Gravity (Wednesday), Stack Attack (Thursday), or Sit Up Basketball (Friday - rolled up socks next to you, complete a sit up, and try to shoot a sock in a basket/bucket)

Week of March 30th E-Learning Day PE Assignment

On Monday mornings, I will email students a physical activity choice board. This choice board will also be found in the uMS wiki page under the PE/Health tab. Below is a brief overview of the assignment. More detailed instructions can be found directly in the document.

  • Click here to access this week’s choice activity board.
  • Choose one activity to complete each day of the week. (Monday through Friday) Total of 5 activities.
  • Document that you have completed each activity at the end with either a photo, time lapse, or screenshot of your device.
  • After each day, mark off the activity that was completed and attach your documentation of completion.

Week of March 16th E-Learning Days PE Assignment

Download the Nike Training Club app and create a profile.

Complete a minimum of 45 minute workouts (can be separate trainings). Email at akladis@aaca.school which workout you have completed, what you thought of it (easy, hard, etc.) and proof of completion.

Week of March 9th

PE: On Monday, we played a game called Yoshi. On Friday, I was away from the building and students participated in a game of Trenches (dodgeball variation).

Week of March 2nd

PE: On Monday, students participated in Cone Knockdown. Students were split into 4 teams. Similar to ultimate frisbee, students that caught the koosh ball were not allowed to move. Object of the game is to work together to pass ball and knock down opponent's cone. On Friday, students played a game called Yoshi. Yoshi is a mix of tag and capture the flag. The object of the game is to get your whole team on a mat located on the opposite side of the gym without being tagged.

Week of February 24th

PE: On Monday, we had free time outside due to work taking place in the gym for a leaking pipe. On Friday, students participated in the last day of spikeball and pickleball.

Week of February 17th

PE: We did not hold class on Monday due to President's Day. On Friday, we continued our spikeball and pickleball unit by playing regulation games.

Week of February 10th

PE: We continued our pickleball and spikeball unit by playing regulation games. Class was split in half. Half the class participates in spikeball and the other half participates in pickleball. Half way through the class, students switch activities.

Week of February 3rd

PE: We started a new unit this week: pickleball and spikeball. On Monday, we viewed an instructional video of how to play spikeball. Spikeball is a variation of four square and students will be partnered up. There are no "sides" in spike ball. It is a 360 court where it requires hand-eye coordination. On Friday, we added pickleball to the mix and watched an instructional video of how to play pickleball.

Week of January 27th

PE: Monday is the final day of our floor hockey unit. Friday, students took a final assessment on basketball and floor hockey. Basketball Handout . Floor Hockey Handout . Our next unit will be pickleball and spikeball.

PE: We continued our floor hockey unit by playing regulation game withe 2 minute shifts.

PE: We continued our floor hockey unit by playing regulation game withe 2 minute shifts.

Week of January 6th

PE: We started a new unit, which is floor hockey. Students are split up into 2 teams. From there, they are split into 2 different shifts. Students participate in a 2 minute shift and rotate out in order to maximize participation.

Week of December 16th

PE: We played a game of Koosh ball where it is a mix of ultimate frisbee and cone knockdown.

Health: Our final health class was taken on Monday and students took a final assessment on our tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs unit.

Week of December 9th

PE: We have completed our basketball unit and played a game called Yoshi. We will start a new unit after the new year.

Health: We discussed the effects that alcohol has to the body. Because alcohol is a depressant it slows the functions of the body. We also played a Kahoot review game to help us prepare for the unit test that is this Monday.

Week of December 2nd

PE: We continued our basketball unit by playing regulation 3 vs 3 games.

Health: We did not have health this week due to no school and parent teacher conferences.

Week of November 25th

PE: We did not have PE this week, instead we had Health.

Health: We held Health class on Monday due to being on break on Friday. Students took a quiz on how tobacco companies advertise their product and who they try to lure the most.

Week of November 18th

PE: We continued our basketball unit by playing a shooting game and then a scrimmage.

Health: Our next topic was tobacco and we discussed the amount of chemicals that can be found in cigarettes. Nicotine is the addictive drug found in tobacco products and can come in many forms: vaping, cigarettes, smokeless, cigars, etc. Students took a quiz on tobacco and we watched a TED talk regarding how cigarettes affect the body.

Week of November 11th

PE: We continued our basketball unit by playing a shooting game and then a scrimmage. Shooting game was called money ball. Students were grouped and had to make 3 shots from the elbow to win a round. It includes a mix of king/queen of the court.

Health: We started our new unit, which is tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs. We discussed the difference between a drug and a medicine. Students took a quiz to describe how drugs enter the body, difference between physical and psychological dependence, and how doses are determined. Students completed 4 worksheets: The Brain-Body Connection, Drugs + Your Life thought bubble, Drugs + Your Life think it through, and Drugs + Society.

Week of November 4th

PE: We started our new unit, which is basketball. We started off the unit by playing a shooting game. Students were broken up into 6 groups. They had to dribble the length of the basketball court to a cone that were laid out. They would shoot the ball. If they made the basket, they can take that cone back with them. If they missed, they go back to the line for the next person. Afterwards, we played 3 vs. 3 games.

Health: This week, students took their unit test on nutrition. Our next unit is alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

Week of October 28th

PE: Students participated in a game called Trenches due to my absence. Trenches is similar to dodgeball. Instead of getting out and standing on the sideline and waiting in line, students run to the opposite baseline. The only way they can get back in is by having a teammate throw a ball and catching it. When that occurs, they are allowed to come back into the game.

Health: We did not have health this week due to no school and professional development for teachers.

Week of October 21st

PE: This week, we took an assessment on the rules of bags and volleyball. Afterwards, students played dodgeball before we delved into our new unit, which is basketball.

Health: This week student's took a quick on recognizing eating disorders: bulimia, anorexia, and binge eating. Additionally, we watched a video on fad diets. Students then completed a venn diagram on the similarities and differences between anorexia and bulimia. We also played a Kahoot game to review the topics that we discussed so far for our unit test.

Week of October 14th

Health: We did not have health this week due to the Holy Fire field trip.

Week of October 7th

PE: Students were assessed on their volleyball serve. A video was taken and will be sent to the students with their grade. We then started our bags mini season to prepare brackets for the following week.

Health: We discussed how fast food companies advertise their food for consumers to purchase. Students analyzed 3 different commercials and what tactics they use to lure everyone in.

PE: We continued our unit on bags and volleyball by playing regulation games. We also discussed the difference between efficient and inefficient movement in bags.

Health: We did a demonstration today and dissected food labels on how much sugar is in the following drinks: Coca cola, OJ, Gatorade, chocolate milk, Arnold Palmer, Capri Sun, and Mountain Dew. We later viewed Eat This Not That slides where they show two foods from a fast food place and we have to designate the healthier option.

Week of September 23rd

PE: We continued our unit of bags and volleyball by playing regulation games.

Health: We did not have health class this week due to professional development for the teachers and no school for the students.

Week of September 16th

PE: We continued our unit of bags and volleyball by playing regulation games.

Health: Students took a quizlet on reading nutrition labels.

Week of September 9th

PE: This week was the first week of PE. Our first unit is a combination of volleyball and corn hole/bags. Due to only 12 players being able to play at one time for volleyball, corn hole/bags is also added to provide movement for everyone in the class. The class is split into 4 teams. 2 teams are playing volleyball for the first half of class while the other 2 teams are playing corn hole/bags. At the half way point of class, they switch their game.

Health: We discussed the six types of nutrients: carbohydrates, proteins, fats, minerals, vitamins, and water with the effects they have on our body. Students completed a myplate worksheet that put their skills to the test as well distinguishing which foods fit into what groups.

Week of September 2nd

PE: We did not have PE class this week due to Monday's Labor Day holiday.

Health: This week in health class students were baseline tested for concussions. The Athletic Program and school have partnered with SportsBrain. Health class will officially start next week.

Week of August 26th

PE: We did not have PE this week due to Monday being a half day.

Health: Friday was the first day of health class. I was unable to be there for the first day due to being out of the building for a conference. Please click here to see welcome video. Students took a pre-assessment on the rules of volleyball and corn hole/bags.
