Please provide clear instructions and consequences per assignment for not submitting it to Google Classroom.
1 calendar day - 10% off graded assignment
2 calendar days - 20 % off graded assignment
3 calendar days - 30% off graded assignment
4 calendar days - 40% off graded assignment
Absolutely NO assignments may be accepted after the 4 calendar days expire.
Assignments that are done in class, during class time are not accepted by the teacher past the due date. Either are assignments that are given in class to do as homework, but graded in class the next class meeting.
Unexcused absences = 0 on class assignments.
Retakes
Students must show evidence of learning/work done in order for the teacher to approve their retake. Please refer to the course syllabus shared by your teacher for further details.
IB Courses
Only ONE retake per semester will be offered for a summative assessment
BELOW 3 in SL courses
BELOW 4 in HL courses
This is not applicable to mocks or semester exams.
Makeups
If a student has an unexcused absence
No makeup will be offered
An assessment can only receive a grade in the gradebook if the absence was excused within 5 calendar days.
If a student has an excused absence
Students will need to have an excused absence coded in PowerSchool in order to receive credit; however, the purpose of assessment is to provide feedback.
Students must communicate with their teachers that their absence is excused.
It is the student’s responsibility to arrange to make up their work as soon as they are back in school.
If a student fails to show up for the makeup assessment without communicating and getting approval from their teacher, they will not be offered another.
Special consideration will be given to students that have an extended excused absence due to health related issues. If there is a medical issue the school doctor will email out to staff the excused absence.
No make-ups/retakes will be offered if a pattern of absences and missing work is evident.
ISS and OSS
Students are required to complete their assignments during ISS or OSS. If they have a scheduled summative assessment, they must contact their teacher to arrange a new date. Failure to communicate with the teacher or to meet the revised deadline will result in a loss of credit for that assessment.
