Why study Arts Award Gold?

Arts Award Gold is a nationally recognised award that is perfect for students who have an existing interest in the Arts and who are already involved in activities in or outside of school. The course enables you to continue to develop your chosen Art form, explore other Arts areas and lead and manage an Arts project. ‘Arts’ includes: Performing arts (Music, Dance and Drama), visual arts, craft and design, literature and digital arts.


Entry requirements

You do not need to have taken an Arts A level but it is essential that you are passionate about the Arts and are already involved in Arts activities either in school or in your own time. You do not need to have completed the Arts Award Bronze or Silver.

How is the course organised?

Part 1: Personal Arts development (focus on self)

  • Extend your own Arts practice

  • Identify and participate in development opportunities within the wider Arts sector

  • Research advanced practitioners and review Arts experiences / events

  • Form and communicate a view on an Arts issue


Part 2: Leadership of an Arts project (focus on others)

  • Identify the project aims and outcomes

  • Organise the people and the resources

  • Manage the effectiveness of the project

  • Manage a public showing of the work

  • Review their leadership development and find effective ways to collect and evaluate feedback from participants, audience members and other stakeholders


Assessment

Students submit a portfolio of evidence at the end of Year 13. This can be digital or as a hardcopy such as a scrapbook and will depend on the students’ chosen Art focus. This is marked by an internal Arts Award Assessor and then subject to moderation by an external moderator
