Equalities Objectives

AET’s specific and overarching equality objectives are renewed every four years and have been revised and added to and are detailed below. 

These highlight now five key areas where inequality for pupils and students can be addressed, the additional objective relates to equality for disadvantaged groups:

In addition to these Trust-wide objectives, AET expects each of its academies to develop and publish their own equality statement and objectives, unique to their own environments. 

Relevant background information

The public sector equality duty (PSED), is a key measure of the Equality Act 2010. It came into force on April 5th 2011 and requires those carrying out public functions to consider the needs of all individuals.

We aim to meet our obligations under the PSED by having due regard to the need to:

Protected characteristics include: age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race (including ethnic or national origins, colour or nationality), religion or belief (including lack of belief), sex and sexual orientation.
