Description:

This is the first year of a two year, rigorous course leading to an IB examination at the end of the two year cycle. It is a course designed for those who wish to study computer science, electrical engineering, electronic engineering, business information systems, mathematics or sciences at university. The course does not presume any background knowledge of computer science but any such knowledge is a definite advantage. The syllabus includes system fundamentals, computer organization, networks, computational thinking, problem solving and programming, abstract data structures, resource management and control. An optional topic is chosen from the following: databases, modeling and simulation, web science and object oriented programming. There is an internal assessment component, worth 30 hours, in which students develop practical skills in the development of a product.

Assessment:

Tests/quizzes/exams/homework and lab work in accordance with IBO assessment practices.
