Map of the Modern Middle East: students will label and color a map of modern Middle Eastern countries, the major waterways and oceans, and the surrounding territory. They will familiarize themselves with these countries in order to understand how ancient empires transformed into their modern counterparts.
NOTE: Armenia, Georgia, and Azerbaijan are greyed out - label them anyway!
Review Unit 0, Lesson 8 Reading: students will do a basic review of Islam, the principles of the early Muslim Empires, and an overview of the Ottoman empire to prepare for the unit.
Extension: students can play GeoGuessr for the map of the middle east they just completed!

Muslim Empires Slides: students will take Outline-style notes on the Muslim Empires. They will differentiate between the Ottomans, Safavids, and the Mogul Empires. Students will identify how the Ottoman Empire rose and fell, and how the Middle East fractured and was changed as a result
Just doing the Ottomans today!!
Muslim Empires Khan Academy: students will complete a review of the Muslim Empires, and geographically compare all three directly on a map. They will complete the worksheet provided in order to review concepts.
