Miss Tregoning ydw i.
This is my second year teaching at Abercanaid Community School and I have loved every minute of working at our wonderful school!
My favourite subjects to teach are Literacy, PE and History. I run 'Eco Schools' where our pupils lead the way in making our school greener. They investigate, take action and inspire others to look after the world around them.
Outside of school I love spending time with my family and friends. I enjoy going for long walks and watching the rugby!
Our Summer Topic - Carnival
During Summer term, Pioneer 2 will go on a vibrant journey to one of the world’s most colourful and energetic celebrations, Rio Carnival, Brazil!
Through stories, music, art and cultural exploration, children will discover the sights, sounds and rhythms of Brazilian Carnival. They will learn about the importance of samba, the elaborate costumes and the spectacular parades, as well as how communities come together to celebrate identity, creativity and tradition. Our learners will bring their learning to life by designing their own carnival costumes and masks, creating bold artwork inspired by Brazilian patterns and colours, and exploring movement and rhythm through dance and performance.
This topic is designed to spark imagination and creativity while developing key skills across the Curriculum for Wales, particularly within:
Humanities – exploring Brazilian culture, traditions and the significance of Carnival celebrations.
Languages, Literacy and Communication – engaging with stories, information texts and creative writing inspired by Carnival.
Expressive Arts – music, dance, art and design influenced by samba rhythms and carnival aesthetics.
Science and Technology – exploring materials, structures and design through the creation of costumes, masks and parade-inspired constructions.
