As part of this topic, pupils will explore the theme of carnivals and develop their understanding of how these events are celebrated. Many pupils will learn about a range of carnivals across the United Kingdom and consider their cultural importance. They will investigate how communities come together to celebrate through music, dance and parades, and begin to recognise the traditions associated with these events. Most pupils will develop an appreciation of the diversity of celebrations and compare similarities and differences between carnivals in different areas.
As a class the children discussed what they would like to focus on during our topic. Throughout the topic we will be looking at:
Carnivals in Wales
Making carnival food
Making carnival drinks
Learning carnival dances
Making our own carnival music
