Welcome to our Spring Term!
Our spring term topic is Castles and Dragons!
The topic Castles and Dragons invites our Year 3/4 pupils on an exciting journey back to the age of knights, fortresses and fiery legends!
Through stories, history and creative learning, children will explore how castles were built and defended, who lived in them, and why dragons feature so strongly in Welsh myths and national identity. Pupils will bring their learning to life through art, drama, writing and problem-solving, building their own castles, retelling legends and imagining life in medieval Wales.
This topic is designed to spark curiosity and creativity while developing key skills across the Curriculum for Wales, particularly within:
Humanities – exploring life in the past and Welsh history.
Languages, Literacy and Communication – storytelling, myths and legends.
Expressive Arts – art, design and drama inspired by castles and dragons.
Science and Technology – materials, structures and simple engineering.
Our class book this term is 'The Boy Who Grew Dragons' by Andy Shepherd.
