Science

Today, we created our own mini water cycles and spoke about what we might see happening over the next couple of days.

Pupil of the Week

Our pupil of the week this week is Thomas! He was chosen for demonstrating our school value of empathy. Thomas ensured that others felt included and listened to. Well done!

Caring Citizens

As part of our Caring Citzens topic we have been creating our class charter and enjoying getting to know each other better.

Coding

As part of our Caring Citizens topic we created our own scratch projects linked to our MEERKAT values.

Science

In Science, we have been discussing why water is essential for life, whilst also exploring the journey of water through the Water Cycle.

Outdoor Learning

We had our first session of Outdoor Learning this week. We shared our ideas for this school year with Mr Miller, enjoyed loose parts play and are already looking forward to our next session on Friday 4th September.

Pupil of the Week

Our pupil of the week this week is Harley! He was chosen for being an excellent role model to the younger pupils in our school.

RADS

We have been focussing on teamwork and communication skills in our first sessions of the school year. Our coaches have been really impressed and have already handed out RADS points.

Trips and Excursions

Young people aged 5 to 21, who live in Scotland for at least 6 months a year, can apply for a free bus pass. You can use this to travel on most bus services in Scotland for free.

If the pupils have their free bus card available for school trips this would enable us to make the most of opportunities for excursions to support learning.

Term 1 Overview

Literacy

In writing we will be focussing on Recount Writing and exploring summarising through our Reflective Reading lessons.

Numeracy

We will be learning about 2D shape and 3D properties as well as Patterns & Relationships.

We will also be taking part in daily Big Maths CLIC sessions.

Health Wellbeing

This term we are focusing on learning about our mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing.

PE is on a Wednesday afternoon and every third week will be taken by a member of Lochside staff.

RADS sessions are Thursday mornings.

Science

We will explore Earth and space, investigating the solar system, weathering and erosion, rocks and fossils, and space exploration through a range of practical, hands-on activities and investigations.

Cross Curricular

We are starting the term off with our 'Caring Citizens' Topic followed by 'Around the World', where we will choose a continent and country to focus on.
