Welcome to Primary 5/6W

Pupil of the Week w/c 17/8/26

Our pupil of the week demonstrated many of our Meerkat values in particular teamwork and enthusiasm and for making a positive contribution in the classroom all week. Well done!

This is the Primary 5/6 Class Charter. We discussed as a class which UNCRC Articles and responsibilities we should focus on in our classroom this school year.

The pupils then voted and the top 3 chosen were - Article 12 everybody has the right to have an opinion and to be heard, Article 19 everybody has the right to be safe and protected and Article 31 everybody has the right to play.

The class chose to represent their charter with video game characters.

Term 1 Overview

Literacy

We will develop their writing through Cypic writing activities, explore texts using reflective reading task maps, and take part in regular spelling activities to build confidence and accuracy.

Numeracy

We will focus on 2D & 3D shape along with Patterns and Relationships and Maths in the Real World. We will also be doing daily CLIC sessions to reinforce others areas of Maths.

Health and Wellbeing

We will explore positive relationships, emotional wellbeing, healthy lifestyles, and strategies to help them stay safe, happy, and confident. Also through PE and RADS sessions.

Science

We will explore Earth and space, investigating the solar system, weathering and erosion, rocks and fossils, and space exploration through a range of practical, hands-on activities and investigations.

Cross Curricular

We will start our term with a focus on 'Caring Citizens' - building positive relationships with our peers and creating our class charter setting expectations for our year.

We will then move on to our 'Around the world' topic, where we will choose a continent to focus on.
