PASSING/FAILING A COURSE

PASSING/FAILING A COURSE

All required courses must receive a passing grade to meet the requirements of graduation. All students who fail a required course must repeat the course until they have received a passing grade. Students may repeat an elective course if they failed the course. If a student wishes to repeat an elective in which they receive a passing grade, the principal must approve it. The permanent record will indicate a grade, passing or failing, each time a course is taken. Any student may take one term of one elective course per year on a pass/fail basis unless dictated by a student's Individualized Education Plan based on decisions made by the child's IEP team and their determination that the student's cognitive delays require significant modifications to the curriculum justifying the need for courses to be taken on a pass/fail basis. This course must be declared pass/fail to the Guidance Department before the first class meets unless it is a post-secondary class, then see guidance for details.
