HONORS

Academic Letters: Any full-time student who has maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.35 on a four-point scale for at least two consecutive terms. Chevrons should be available each year for those students who have obtained an academic letter and have continued to maintain a 3.35 GPA. Letters will not be taken from those students whose GPA falls below 3.35, but they will not receive chevrons until they once again have met the 3.35 GPA requirement for at least two consecutive terms.

Diploma of Merit: Students must earn 64 credits and a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Students receiving the Diploma of Merit will receive special acknowledgment at Commencement, a gold seal attached to the diploma as well as a notation in the student’s individual cumulative folder.

Honor Roll: An Honor Roll will be compiled at the end of 2nd and 4th terms. To be on the Honor Roll, a student must be a full-time student and have a “B” average or better. The published Honor roll will be determined shortly after the students have received their report cards. Students with incomplete grade(s) at the time of compilation of the Honor Roll will keep a student off it. Any grade recorded of a D, F, U or Incomplete will make the student ineligible for Honor Roll. It is the responsibility of the student to have a grade for any post-secondary course sent to the high school office at the conclusion of each term. This grade is required for the student to be placed on Honor Roll.

Honor Students: All senior students who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better for grades 9 through the fourth term of their senior year will be Honor Students.

National Honor Society: Only those students who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 will be considered. This cumulative grade point must be computed from the beginning of the ninth grade. Membership in the local chapter will be limited to juniors and seniors only.

The final selection of members shall be by a faculty council consisting of the Principal (non-voting), the NHS advisor (non-voting), and five faculty members. The nominees will be individually discussed and may be accepted for membership. There will be no restrictions as to the number of members that may be elected to membership in any one year, other than that the student must meet the minimum requirements for the scholarship.
