Moessbauer Data Analysis in Origin:
Below you will find videos describing how you can access Origin and use it to analyze the Moessbauer data. Note: As of 2024, we no longer have to use Citrix to access Origin, it should be installed on the computer already. If it is not, let Tracy know. So the
Content: Description of the raw data, Origin's data categories for its columns, how to add columns and set their values and how to plot the data.
Content: Data "masking" and multi-peak fitting using Lorentzians.
Content: More detailed look at the fitting process, including adding "Instrumental Weights" to take the uncertainty into considerations.
Content: The relationship between channel number to velocity and, ultimately, energy.
Warning: the video misstates that converting the channel data into energy and then re-fitting will provide you directly with the all the uncertainties. That statement would be correct if there was no uncertainty involved in the conversion process. However, as stated in this video both, Ey, the energy of the gamma and velocity between the extreme peaks have an associated uncertainty and this should be taken into consideration when you state your final values!
