TJ Turnage
After graduating from Iowa State, TJ started his NWS career at Midland, TX prior to moving to Tallahassee as a senior forecaster. There he was able to work on his master's degree in meteorology at Florida State University, which became a lot easier once the WFO moved on campus from the airport. In 2006, TJ was selected to become the new Science and Operations Officer at NWS Grand Rapids. This put him back in the mid-latitudes where he'd grown up. Having Lake Michigan in the forecast area also allowed him to remain involved with marine meteorology and to also experience lake effect snow for the first time.
