Glitter & Light Canvas

Supplies You’ll Need:

DIRECTIONS:

1. Use foam brush to cover entire canvas with layer of decoupage medium.

2. Working 12" from the canvas, dust canvas with glitter. Apply glitter so the bottom is fully covered in glitter, fading into less glitter at the top to create the ombre effect.

3. Apply additional layers of glitter to achieve a thick consistency at the bottom. Mix types of glitters to create dimension.

4. Apply a thin layer of decoupage medium over the entire canvas to seal the glitter. Tip: Ensure base layer is completely dry before applying the top coat to avoid smearing the glitter.

5. Poke a small hole in the back of the canvas with craft knife. Push the tip of the moon light through the hole and secure in place with duct tape. Repeat, adding holes and lights over the entire canvas. Continue the ombre effect by placing more lights at the bottom of the canvas and less toward the top. Apply layers of duct tape to hold lights securely in place on the canvas.

6. Enjoy your Beautiful Canvas!

DIY Glass Terrariums

Directions:

Step One: Download the template found at the end of the post. Feel free to scale it if you want it a little larger! Watch a thousand tutorials on how to cut glass, and cut out your shapes. It is easier to separate the larger pieces of glass with my gloved hands, and smaller pieces with the ball end of the cutting tool.

Step Two: Sand the edges of your beautifully cut-out shapes.

Step Three: Initially, you’ll want all the tape to be on the inside of the terrariums.

Step Four: Use glue to seal every edge of your terrarium. You will have to do it in sections to allow the glue to dry. (And so your terrarium doesn’t get stuck to your workspace.)

Step Five: Let your terrariums dry fully!

Step Six: Carefully remove the tape from the inside of the terrariums. This will be slightly more difficult on the smaller, thinner shapes so I used an X-acto knife to help the process along.

Step Seven: If you want to use your terrariums as planters, it’s best to go back and seal the inside edges as well and let dry completely. To add the copper trim, measure out one edge of your terrarium and cut a piece of the copper foil. Remove the back and adhere the tape to the edge. Repeat previous step on every edge.

Step Eight: Add a small cacti to your creation!

Brown Butter Matcha Cookies

My Asian Squad, this one is for you. Ooey gooey matcha cookies accentuated with white chocolate and pecans.

Ingredients:

1 3/4 sticks of butter

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 cup granulated white sugar

2 eggs (room temp)

2 cups all purpose flour

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

2 tbsp matcha powder

1/2 cups pecans, chopped

1/2 cup white chocolate (chips of chopped up bar)

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut butter into evenly sized chunks, preferably tablespoons, or smaller if you can. Place butter into a saucepan over medium heat on the stovetop and melt. Watch closely as to not burn the butter. When it is really golden with some brown specks at the bottom, pour browned butter into a heat proof bowl to cool. In a large mixing bowl, add the room temp melted butter and both sugars. When combined, add 2 room temperature eggs and the vanilla. Tip: Make sure everything is room temperature for the best results. If the butter is too hot, then it will cook the eggs and make them like you would for breakfast. If the eggs are still cold out of the fridge, it will slightly lump and make weird chunkiness in the batter. That might just be me though, so hit me up if you really know why. Anyways, on with the recipe!

DIY Halloween Candy Jar

Supplies:

Step one: paint outside of the terra cotta pot, saucer and knob. You can use regular craft paint or spray paint (I’m using a gloss spray paint). Make sure you don’t paint the inside of the lid! Your candy will be exposed to the bottom of the lid so keep it safe by taping it off if necessary. Make sure paint is completely dry before moving on to step two.You are here: Home / Crafts / Halloween Candy Jar

Step two: glue the glass jar to the terra cotta pot using e6000 or a similar industrial strength glue. Place a heavy book on top and let dry for at least 8 hours.

Step three: glue the knob to the saucer using hot glue.

Step four: fill your jar with candy and decorate with ribbons.

Homemade Peanut Butter Cups

Homemade Peanut Butter Cups!

Do you love Reeses? Well, you're about to learn how to make a homemade batch of peanut butter cups from home!

Ingredients(inexact amounts)

Handful of Chocolate

1/4 cup Peanut Butter

2 tsp powdered sugar

1 tsp honey

1/4 tsp vanilla

Tools:

microwave/double boiler-to melt chocolate

2 bowls and spoon-to mix peanut butter mixture and melt chocolate

Muffin tin/cupcake liners-to make the pb cups in

In a microwave safe bowl, add some chocolate. Melt in intervals, 30 seconds then takeout out stir, 25 seconds stir, 20 seconds stir, you get the idea Do this until the chocolate melts. For a double boiler, slightly simmer dome water in a pot of water. Put chocolate in a bowl and place on top of the water, where the bottom of the bowl doesn't touch the water. Stir until melted. Tip: make sure nothing had water! Not you bowl with chocolate, not your spoon, not anything else, unless you're using a double boiler. If you do, it will clump up and seize, It is still delicious as is or with ice cream, but can't be used for Reese's cups.

In a greased muffin tin or cupcake liners, use the back of a spoon to thinly smooth the melted chocolate.

Repeat this until you have as much as you'd like. Refrigerate the chocolate while you work on the peanut butter. Add peanut butter, powdered sugar, and honey in a bowl and mix. Adjust to taste. If you want it sweeter, add more powdered sugar and honey. If it tastes too sweet, add more peanut butter.

Once hardened, add a spoonful of your peanut butter mixture to the chocolate shell and smooth it into al the chocolate cracks. Refrigerate and in the meantime, melt more chocolate in the same method as before. Once velvety and smooth, coat the top of your pb cups with the chocolate. Refrigerate once again until chocolateis hardened and enjoy! The cool thing about this recipe is that you can customize your peanut butter cups. Do you want bananas and strawberries? Done. White chocolate? Milk chocolate? Dark chocolate? Triple done. Caramel swirl? you get the idea. So get in the kitchen and make a super delicious unique batch!
