First tip Dō Thē Rīght Thīng - Add macrons where they belong when using written Māori.This is is one-off setup of your mac involving setting up the Māori keyboard as an input (yes Apple include Māori as an international keyboard).

After that holding the option key down while typing a vowel will produce the required macron.

Second tip Drag and Drop on Speed. Dragging and dropping has always been a Mac OS mainstay but you can work faster and smarter by really pushing this feature to the max. You will be surprised what can be dragged and where it can be dropped.

Force opening apps, file transfers, grabbing images, inserting and attaching gets really fast when used in combination with the 'command-tab' and or Expose features

Third tip Smart FoldersThe advent of Spotlight searching sent my orderly filing regime out the window. But I still need to group documents, photos, media and other files together for certain purposes. Smart Folders let objects exist in multiple places and are a powerful productivity tool for busy teachers & principals.

Fifth Tip Spanning Sync - Google Calendar's best friend. http://spanningsync.com/Great if you are a Google Cal etc user but still like the elegant features which link Mail etc. to iCal, eg. hovering over a date/address or phone number to auto add to contacts.
