Use the Spore Creature Creator to inspire a poetry or literacy experience! The Spore Creature Creator is a neat free game that allows you to create 3D monsters and interact with them. Even better, it allows you to export the creatures as movie to iMovie or Windows Movie Maker and voice over your poetry.

Comic Life word picture. I saw this first in Annette's class at Mount Primary School - grab a nice clear picture and use the comic life LETTERING tool to drag similes, adjectives, ideas, concepts, onomatopoeia - anything that can be written that is related to your picture. Resize the words so they fill the picture nicely, delete the picture and you've got a word picture.

For those of you who are network administrators of school's with Macs - I really, really, really, really recommend DeployStudio. Super easy way to image school iMac's or MacBooks (and even PC's) over your school's network. Once you're all set up it takes between 5 and 15 minutes to wipe, and install an image.
At Te Akau ki we have two images, one for older PPC macs and one for the current Intel Macs - they're about 15gig each. Anytime we get a new Mac I just image it with deploy studio, all the applications we use at school, our network settings, printers, the way our browsers are set up are ready to go before the computer is in the classroom.
My name is Glen Storey, I'm a Teacher of Students with Special Needs and the ICT Specialist at Te Akau ki Papamoa School in Tauranga. I love seeing kids and teachers using ICT to make their jobs more inspiring and effective. I believe ICT should be simple and intuitive, which is why I use a mac.
I have a background in Web Development and I still do a bit of that when I'm not working with learners, and like Matt, I'm learning to write iPhone and iPad apps - I'm really enjoying the challenged and getting excited about ideas for apps.
