iPad - NZ websitesI'm sure most people found this obvious - but I had my iPad for more than a year before I discovered it!

I love the way in Safari on the iPad you can enter .com with a single keystroke. But what about .co.nz, or .org.nz?

Just hold your finger on the .com key for a moment and up pops a range of options that you may use frequently.

Haiku Deck

Sharing with Keynote and Powerpoint can be awesome, but sometimes there are too many options, and too many opportunities to fill slides with endless bulletpoints and flashy transitions.

Haiku Deck can quickly and easily produce simple and stylish presentations that communicate well. All you get is two lines of text and one picture (either your own photo or one from a creative commons search). The results look great, and you can free up more time for learning and creating.

Its free so give it a try. <http://www.haikudeck.com>

Reverse scrollingI know there is sound logic behind the "natural" (or backwards) scrolling in Mac OSX Lion or Mountain Lion. Personally I never got used to it. If you agree with me it is very easy to put it back the way it was.

Open System Preferences, then click on trackpad -> Scroll & Zoom, take the tick out of the box that says scroll direction: natural.

iPad Resources Online

We know that the iPad is transforming the way that we teach and learn. There are plenty of sites discussing the use of iPad in education, why not start with Apple's Education site. Plenty of examples of their use in class, management, deployment.

Great for teachers, principals and IT Staff. <http://www.apple.com/nz/education/>.

Use Apple TV with your projector. Have you had a chance to use Apple TV in class? Great for using iPad with a flat screen TV, but what about a projector? What you need is a HDMI connection - which is fine if you have a very recent projector, but otherwise you are out of luck.

The solution is the ATV Pro which will connect the Apple TV to the VGA port on your projector. Don't forget that it will also work with your Mac as long as it is running Mountain Lion.

A bit about me : I have worked with ICT in education for 12 years and have focused on solutions with Apple technology. Recently I have enjoyed working with the iPad and developing strategies for deploying and managing them.
