Writing macrons, arrows, and other less used text on an Apple is really easy and really handy for writing Māori texts.
To get there go to System Preferences ☛ Language and Texts ☛ Tick Keyboard and Character Viewer ☛ Tick Māori in the list of languages. Now you will get the Māori flag in the top menu bar. To type a letter with a macron now just hold down the Option key while typing the letter ā, ē, ī, ō, ū. To get other characters click on the Maori Flag ☛ go down to Show Character Viewer and select the character ☛ Either double click it or select it and insert it.
Here are some that I have used a lot. ☺ ® ✂ ✓ ✗ 6° £ © ℃ ℅ ½ ⅓ ⅔ ¼ ¾
When you write an email and want to include a URL web address and it is really long like a Google Docs page it can sometimes not come out as clickable after you send it. To make sure the URL comes out as a clickable link click COMMAND K ( ⌘ + K ) and copy the URL in there. And now people will be able to click it and the link will definitely work.
To incrementally increase your font size highlight it and press COMMAND and the plus key at the same time ( ⌘ and +).
Geocaching is a fun sport you can do if you have a device that knows where it is (GPS). Sonic Pics is a fabulous digital storytelling app for iPad. Here is a link to a story I made on location on a geocache search with the app. I have two pro apps to give away. If you have an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad guess a number that's on this piece of paper and it's yours.
Making photos in a smaller size when you send them in Mail. To add photos in a smaller resolution to an email. You can either drag them from the media browser or drag them directly onto the body of the email. At the bottom right hand corner of the email you will see a little dialogue box with small, medium or large. Click on the dialogue box to select the size you want and it automatically resizes the photos.
To make an eBook for your iPod Touch or iPhone or iPad. Write your text as you usually would with Pages. Make sure any images are places INLINE not FLOATING (Change in the Inspector). Go FILE☛ EXPORT as an ePub. Open iTunes and go FILE ☛ ADD TO LIBRARY. Synch your iPad and you're done. Look in iBooks for it under COLLECTIONS.
You can download a pdf of how to do that here.
