Leading the learning
Direct Instruction
The learning intention for this lesson was synthesising information from across multiple sources. This required the learners to use the information from one reading and apply to it another. This video shows the learners working on their follow up activities after they had read various texts and had discussions with the teacher, or on their own. In the video the learners explain what they have learned from the readings and discussions during the "pop quiz section". The questions I have asked come from multiple texts, and they require them to think across those multiple texts.
Reflection/ Next steps
The learners have done really well here at applying real life examples to the ideas they have been reading about. You can see them making real connections across the multiple texts. The knowledge carried over from the previous lessons are really obvious and learners were less bogged down by new vocab, which allowed more time to understand the ideas within the text.
