Clothing and Textiles Weekly Lesson Plans Recommended Grade Level: 10-12 grade

Length of Course: 1/2 Semester (90 Minute Block)

Course Description: This course provides students with an understanding of the social, psychological and physiological aspects of clothing and apparel design; selection, construction, maintenance and alteration of textile products; and exposure to careers related to clothing, textiles, and design/marketing will be explored. This is a prerequisite for Fashion Design.

10.1.1 Integrate knowledge, skill and practices required for careers in textiles and apparel.

10.1.2 Evaluate fiber and textile products and materials

FCS 10.3 Demonstrate skills needed to produce, alter, or repair fashion, apparel and textile products.

10.3.1 Demonstrate basic sewing techniques to repair/design/customize clothing

10.3.2 Research the use of recycle items and demonstrate their use in clothing construction

10.3.3 Demonstrate professional (care/safety) skills in using a variety of equipment, tools, and supplies for fashion, apparel and textile construction, alteration and repair
