Economics & Government

Economics/Government

I can...

  • I can identify how goods and services impact the lives of people in the community.

Economics Overview:

During this unit students will get the chance to hear about economics from a Junior Achievement Volunteer.

These JA volunteers are from a local bank in our community. They will come in once a week for 5 weeks to reinforce the concepts and ideas that are currently being discussed in class. They do this by giving real-life examples and doing a variety of hands-on activities.

In class we will be working on the basic economics vocabulary terms, what they mean and what do those terms look like.(i.e. being a good consumer, a producer, etc) We will do this with some reading, and interactive notebooks.

Government Overview:

During this unit our main objectives are citizenship, The Pledge of Allegiance and local government. Students will learn what the rights and responsibilities are of citizens, what the Pledge means and why we say it, and finally about the different parts of local government. At the end of local government students will get a chance to meet Mayor Joe Chilsen!
