Module Overview:

During this module students will focus on story elements, perspective, quotation marks, punctuation and finally writing a friendly letting to Mary Pope Osborne.

Our first objective is to learn story elements. We will learn about setting, plot and theme and then apply it while we are reading our Magic Tree House books In the end students will be asked to compare and contrast one of those story elements between the Magic Tree House read aloud(Blizzard of the Blue Moon) and their independent reading Magic Tree House book(Ghost Town at Sundown).

Next, we will focus in on perspective. Students will take a look at how Jack and Annie feel during certain situations in the book, and think would they feel/do the same thing or something different. In the end students will be asked to describe a situation with Jack or Annie, describe how they felt, and then describe if they agree or disagree and why.

Finally, we will look at our language standards and apply them when we write our friendly letter to Mary Pope Osborne. We will write her telling her what we love about her books, things we may have learned, what our favorite book is and maybe some questions we have. We will then send out our letter and hope for a response back!
