2. Renewable / Alternative Energy

Hydro Power.

Water power is considered Renewable but it is not a

true "alternative" energy.

To make the dam, we hold back massive amounts of water

behind it, creating an artificial lake called a reservoir.

This lake flooded forests under it, creating greenhouse

gases from the rotting vegetation. The dam also damages

the natural ecosystem of the river, stopping fish from moving

freely, washing away their spawning grounds, and affecting the

natural flow of the river.

Dam Collapses

Why is alternative energy often referred to as

"clean" or "green energy".
