Earthquakes: Faulting
The earth's crust is what we commonly refer to as land or solid rock we live on.
Don't forget the crust also exists below the ocean as well.
The crust is more like a broken egg shell, with each part (or plate) moving against, into and away from each other.
When this happens, we experience earthquakes.
When the Earth moves under the ocean, a giant wave called a tsunami can be created.
It can be 10 meters tall and travel hundreds of kilometers an hour.
It can rush inland, devastating everything in its path.
Think of a landslide, but with a giant wave instead.
