A to B: Covelo, CA to Portland, OR

December 3 to December 5, 2009

After packing the Sportsmobile full of all of our worldly possessions, we hit the road on December 3 and began our drive north, which only kind of made sense since our destination was east. We wanted to see our friends in Eugene and to make it to Blind Pilot's final show of their first headlining national tour. We split the drive up to Eugene into two days and found a free campground only miles from I-5 north of Redding in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. It felt luxurious to just pop up the top on the van and not have to set up a tent. We made it to Eugene for dinner on Friday with friends and then toured the Eugene Holiday Market on Saturday morning. Saturday night we drove the last leg up to Portland to see Blind Pilot play the Wonder Ballroom, supported by Laura Veirs and Point Juncture Washington. It was a great show and really fun to be able to hang out with them afterward and catch up on their past year's journeys as we headed out onto ours.
