Ten reasons to love Week 15 (Thoughts of a Tired Writing Teacher)
1. We’ve covered almost all of the important stuff by now and haven’t had a snow day yet!
2. Most of the people who I thought might drop HAVE dropped, so I can focus on the “survivors” now.
3. I know students not just by name and face, but also by their habits (she doodles pictures of her pet Ferret! He wears that stocking cap even though it’s a little silly. She always speaks up when I ask for feedback. He makes insightful comments and smiles at his small group, encouraging others to speak up).
4. I have a pretty good feeling who will laugh at my jokes (hopefully I haven’t told the same ones to the same group more than a couple of times).
5. I have adjusted to the varying temperatures of classrooms around campus by wearing layers, know that in some rooms I won't need them.
6. I think with enough caffeine, I can finish three sections worth of essay #3 this weekend, in time to tackle three sections of essay #4 coming early next week, in time to return them before the Final exam slots the next week, when I get short Reflective essays (#5).
7. There are only five days left for students to skip class!
8. I’ve pretty much figured out the new Course Management System and don’t want to add up my hours spent online again (950+ a few days ago)
9. I actually LIKE finals week…. I’ve designed a good wrap up activity for classes, including presentations by the Education students, a small group activity for the Literature students, and a very short in-class essay for the Comp. students.
10. Next week is week 16!
