Police Seek Suspects After Home Invasion in Markham

The York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit is seeking public assistance in identifying two suspects wanted in connection with a home invasion robbery in the City of Markham.
On Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at 6:12 p.m., police were called to a home invasion robbery at a residence located on Douglas Haig Drive, in the area of Steeles Avenue and McCowan Road. Two male suspects entered the victim’s home through the unlocked front door. The suspects pushed the victim against the wall and attempted to rip her gold chair from her neck. The suspects were unsuccessful in taking the necklace and fled the scene on foot. The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the incident.

Investigators are asking anyone who observed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident to contact police.
Residents are reminded to keep doors and windows locked at all times. Always know who is at the door before opening it and report suspicious vehicles and people to police. We will respond to these calls. Remember, you don’t have to answer the door if you feel uncomfortable about doing so. That is your right. Make sure your home has proper lighting. If you find yourself the victim of a robbery, try to be the best witness you can be. Avoid taking any risks and cooperate with suspects.
