About me:

Nawáh, my name is Jessie McKerley, and I am the new junior high counselor with the last names beginning with A-K. This is my second year as a counselor. Last year, I was an elementary school counselor at Wilder Elementary in Littleton Public Schools. Before beginning my new role as a counselor, I was an 8th grade English teacher for 6 years at Ken Caryl Middle School.

I am an enrolled member of the Arikara Nation (Three Affiliated Tribes), though I grew up in Parker, CO and went to Ponderosa High School. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in History with an emphasis in Education from Metropolitan State University. While teaching middle school, I decided I wanted to help students in a different capacity, which led me to being an advocate for mental health in schools. I graduated from the University of Colorado with a Master of Arts in Counseling in 2022. This summer, I completed my yoga teacher training from Breathe4Change, and now hold a RYT-200 (Registered Yoga Teacher-200 hours) certification.

My husband, Matt, and I married in 2014 and have two amazing children, Emmett (6) and Mila (3), and one fur-baby, Hank (1), a golden retriever who will eventually be trained to become a therapy dog.

In my free time I love to practice yoga, explore Denver and surrounding areas with my kiddos, going to events at the DPAC, paddleboard, snowboard, golf, take a plane to the ocean, and be with my family.

I am thrilled to be at D’Evelyn and excited to form strong relationships with D’Evelyn students and families throughout the year.
