Eating disorders can be debilitating psychiatric illnesses that result in impaired physical health and psychosocial function. While prevalence is low in the general population (1% of women) there are increases in occurrence among certain populations. The role of the MNT provider is to support adequate and safe introduction of foods and nutrients to the patient while working alongside the interdisibplinary care team.
