On the first day of an online synchronous A&P course, students learn to copy, share, and annotate a GoogleSlides file containing a blank diagram and ten unknown terms. In addition to providing baseline data for the instructor, the experience primes students to break down new terms into familiar root words indicating structure, appearance, etc., and to make connections to their existing knowledge. This activity also introduces a way to use technology, make study resources, and provides opportunities to collaborate throughout the course. Subjective student feedback indicates that this experience was a helpful introduction to the course.
