2021-2022 Project

Pedal Power Bike Wars!

How can we help students see that small changes can make a big difference when it comes to climate change? This year we were able to purchase 10 pedal chargers and had students compete to see which classes could divert the most electricity from the grid.

2020-2021 Project

Net-Zero Living - Space Colony Style!

Bringing our 3 years of collaboration on these energy projects to a close with a spectacular two-phased project with Amanda Green! Students generate an "energy budget" for essential activities in a Mars settlement and work to offset this budget using Solar, Wind and Microbial power sources in the Offset Phase. Once this is determined, students will design, code and construct automated systems to use what energy they have available in the most efficient way possible in the Optimization Phase.

2019-2020 Project

Bringing the "Green" Into Greenhouse Gases

How do every day activities impact our planet? Which actions that we take will cause more or less greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to enter our atmosphere? While our in-class work was cut short thanks to the Covid-19 Pandemic, students were able to explore various activities and learn how simple steps can reduce our impact on Earth's fragile atmosphere.

2018-2019 Project

Sustainable Energy for Colonizing Mars

How can we gain a better appreciation for the resources we have here on Earth by contemplating life on another planet? Students examined the energy available from fossil fuels compared to bio fuels and programmed devices to help make their Mars Gardens more energy efficient!
