How can we use our theme of "Settling Mars" to learn about the difference between Net Zero and Zero Emissions? Which energy-reducing strategies will help reduce our carbon footprint?
Exploring through Mars-coloured lenses
While our ultimate focus was to be reducing greenhouse gas emissions here on Earth, using a theme of "Settling Mars" in Science 9 brought a focus to the year that engaged students' interest in all things Space.
Students started the year brainstorming some of the key requirements for survival on the Red Planet. Once they created a "short list" of needs it was determined that the over-reaching focus would have to be ENERGY.
Energy would be required for all life support on Mars. This would be kept at the forefront of all of our work during the school year.
