Vacation Budget Spreadsheet

The next step is to take your research from your Google Doc Vacation Planning Worksheet, and creating a monetary budget. Remember, all the prices you will be using can be found in your worksheet (you already did the research, now were are calculating it).

Here are important characters you will need to know when typing your functions/formulas:

= tells the program you need to complete a function (math problem)

: through, which means a range of cells (ex: rows 1 through 5 in column A would be typed as A1:A5)

+ addition

* multiplication

You will also need to calculate sub totals and totals of different parts of your budget using formulas & functions. Remember start by clicking in the cell you want your answer to appear in, then start typing your formula. Below are some of the calculations you will need to find:

  • Total per person; Adult- transportation + 3 meals + 3 entertainment
  • Total per person; Child- transportation + 3 meals + 3 entertainment
  • Subtotals for Adults- total per adult x number of adults
  • Subtotals for Children- total per child x number of children
  • Family Total for transportation, meals and entertainment- Adult Sub Total + Children Sub Total
  • Total Stay- price per night + total nights
  • Grand Total- family total + total stay

Don't forget that the cell name is what is important (not the numbers inside) when typing your functions/formulas.

Refer to the picture to the right for the correct location for your information.
