As a local teacher, and citizen of Athens, I am continuously looking for ways to bring arts to the lives of our students. So when Mathew E. from Rabbit Box, a local story-telling group, contacted me about a show featuring youth voices, I was delighted! I then contacted Lucas Underwood, an MFA/ photography student with UGA who has worked generously with my students in the past, to add a photographic element to the project.
The project will culminate on January 8th, 2014 at The Melting Point. While this is Elvis’ birthday, the theme of the event is not Elvis; it is “The Year is Young”. But feel free to dress up like Elvis, if you’d like. Hopefully, the photographs will then travel to another venue so that more people can enjoy them.
Leading up to January 8th, we are having workshops to prepare the students.
