United Health HEROES Service Learning Grant

When asked if they wanted to apply for a hiking grant, Coile Serves teen leaders answered unanimously with a "yes!" We applied received the funding! This $1000 grant funded two local hikes plus celebrations to encourage hiking as a form of fitness. The Coile Serves leaders chose the Cook's Trail connecting the two Sandy Creeks for our hikes. We entered the trail at the Hidden Pines Neighborhood entrance to allow more youth and families to participate. The first hike took place on Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend in January and the second hike took place during Global Youth Service Day and weekend in April.http://www.ysa.org/HEROES
