Eighth grade engineering was excellent. I furthered my knowledge on many topics such as aviation, rockets, 3D printing, snap circuits, and laser cutting, which is why I enjoy this elective. It allows me to discover different fields of engineering and find what I like and what I dislike. I also thought it was interesting that while we were doing rockets, in physics we were learning about Newton's laws. While we were doing snap circuits, Mr. Stacks was teaching us about electric current.
My favorite project we did this year was the operation board. I loved how it incorporated our skills of soldering, circuits, and laser cutting. The other part of the project that was appealing to me was the independence. We were on our own, and Mr. Taylor was there if we needed him. We had a lot of freedom to do what we wanted and everybody's project was different.
In conclusion, I acquired a familiarity with new concepts and built upon already learned topics. Although I will miss Mr. Taylor (the most awesome, cool, and funny teacher), I am excited to see what upper school engineering has to bring.
