We played a little bit with VCarve and got familiar with how to calculate toolpaths. We then were assigned to import a pdf into vcarve and then make the toolpaths in the software. I could not find a simple pdf to import, so I designed my name in Inkscape and exported it as a pdf. Here was my design:

After creating and saving my pdf, I opened up VCarve and clicked "open an existing file":
