Our first skill of the year that we learned in engineering was cutting out our own vinyl stickers. We used the Silhouette Cameo 2 cutting machine and a software called Silhouette. Once we were set up with the computer connected to the Silhouette Cameo 2 using a USB, we opened the software to begin designing our sticker. First, we went on Google to find an image either in a PNG or JPEG format. Then, we loaded the image into the software where we traced the image and deleted the original image. Taking the tracing of the image, we scaled it to the size we wanted and moved it to the top left corner. There is a grid on the software that matches the cutting mat, so we knew the size of vinyl that we needed to place on the cutting mat lining it up in the top left corner. After the vinyl was stuck to the cutting mat which is slightly sticky, we lined it up with the markings on the Cameo and pressed load to printer. We then clicked file-silhouette-print and the Cameo would do its magic. Once it was done cutting, we would press unload mat and take the piece of vinyl off the mat. The second part is using transfer tape to get the sticker off. First, we cut a piece of transfer tape and place it over the sticker. We made sure it was really stuck to the vinyl before we lifted a corner of the tape to start peeling it back. When we started peeling the tape back, the sticker (hopefully) came off with the tape. The final step was to place the tape, with the sticker underneath, wherever you wanted (I placed it on my iPad case) and rub the top like your life depends on it. The final product is below. Now, it's time to move on and make a more complex one!
